- Decreased kidney or liver function
- Hypersensitivity to sulfites used as preservatives (wine, foods), other drugs related to sulfonamides (acetazolamide, thiazide diuretics, tolbutamide)
- Suppressed bone marrow
- Patient at risk for megaloblastic anemia (alcoholic, pregnant woman, patient who is debilitated)
