Yellow or Red light in cab or pump panel will light up to alert the operator
Red light indicates that you need to shut down the engine immediately.
Yellow light indicates that there is a problem and you should check it out, but you can still continue operation
What is the Command Zone?

What does the Command Zone do?
- Shows 4 main screens
- - Door screen that displays open doors
- - Pump Panel/Engine Operation Screen
- - Engine Fluids screen
- - Load Manager screen
What is Multiplexing?
What does is include?
A Computer Controlled Wiring system for the chassis and is responsible for the delay from when a switch is activated and when the component responds.
Includes a load Manager and warning light sequencer to limit heavy electrical loads on the batteries and alternator
What is normal Operating Temperature?
At what Temperature is overheating?
What do you do when it Overheats?
210 is overheating
Pull over if driving, turn on High Idle, Turn on cab heaters.
Do not turn off apparatus. It will stop the circulation of the radiator fluid through the engine.
What kind of Transmission
Allison 4060 PR with a fluid retarder and available PTO port
How many gears?
Describe the Retarder
automatic transmission. [ 6th gear disabled ]
- Vaned cavity located at the rear of the transmission.
- Pressurized fluid gets sent into those cavitys allowing the transmission to slow down when the retarder is on.
- Brake applied, retards 100%
- Brake off, retards 33%
What happens if the ABS System comes on and the retarder is already on?
Brake lights come on when the retarder is on.
Retarder will shut off if ABS comes on
When does the retarder need to be turned?
Only for dry road conditions. Not to be used on slippery roads due to loss of traction

What will happen if Air Pressure drops below what pressure?
An audible and Visual low pressure alarm will sound once the pressure has dropped to 60 PSI

When will they come on?
Spring Applied Air Released. Engaged on the rear axels
When maxi brake lever is pulled or when air pressure drops to 40-60 PSI
Describe the Emergency Brakes and their purpose
System used for when there is a brake system failure [ loss of air pressure ]
If air pressure drops to 60 PSI, Emergency Brakes will start to come on
Once the pressure drops to 40 PSI, Emergency Brakes are fully engaged, and apparatus is at a complete stop
What does ABS stand for?

How do you turn it on and how do you use it?
Antilock Brake System
Electronic sensors detect that brakes of the tires have locked. System automatically modulates the brakes. [ Pumping Action ]
ABS system always on. For use, apply brakes when sliding and maintain holding down the brake pedal until you come to a complete stop
Describe Front Wheel Lock
An emergency brake to use for steep upgrades
Engage parking brake first then front wheel lock
Engages the Front Service Brakes when applied
To release, release parking brake
Engine must be running for Front Wheel Lock to work.
Inter- Axel Differential Lock
Rear Axels differential is locked allowing torque to be supplied equally between the two Axels
Under normal dry road conditions, with two drive axels, there are 4 wheels on the ground each having 25% torque values
Without this lock, if one wheel wheel were to spin on ice, then most or all torque would be lost to the spinning tire just as it would with a single axel vehicle
Speed Limit with Inter-Axel Differential Lock on:
Speed limit : 35 MPH
Risk loss of control or differential damage if you exceed the speed limit

Engage them while moving [Forward or Reverse]
- Have to be moving to engage
- No faster then 25 MPH to engage
- No faster then 35 MPH to disengage
- 35 MPH is the limit when driving
Engage before slippery conditions to avoid locking up the wheels
- Cable chains can also be used. With them on 30 MPH is the limit
- Have window open and headsets off if cables are used to listen for cable snaps
What kind of pump?
Waterous 1500 GPM Centrifugal Pump with pressure control and intake relief valve
What does the throttle control do?
It is a toggle switch that can adjust the engine RPM
If in pressure mode, will adjust the discharge pressure and attempt to maintain dishcharge pressure by altering the engine RPM
Pump has to be engaged and in gear for pressure control to work
Engine cannot go below Idle RPM for pressure control to work
A green light will light up on the Pump Panel to indicate the pump is engaged

A line from the discharge side of the pump circulates water through a heat exchanger in the pump panel removing heat from the engine coolant
Two Heaters at 33,000 BTUs in the pump compartment that can provide additional heat to the compartment during cold weather. The heater cores receive coolant from the engine and a fan blows air through the coils
