  1. Compare and contrast the masion cairree and temple of portunas
    • Maison careee used corinthian capitals, is frontally oriented and on a pediment, also has engaged columns on the sisde.
    • temple of portunas has ionic capitals however, is also engaged side columns and is also frontally oriented and on a pediment.

  2. compare and contrast parthenon to ara pacis
parthenon: dorix temple design, well spaced columns with their slender shafts, 17x8 colum plan. contaminated by ionic elements. the cella has a two story doric collonade to place a statue.

ara pacis: monument celebrating augstaes greatest achievements/ also parallel friezes in spired yu the panathenaic procession frieze of the parthenon. on the parthenon anonymous figures act out an event that recureed every four years. the ara pacis depicts a specific event and recognizable contemporary figures.
  3. conpare and contrast primaporta augustus and portrait of a roman man?
portrait of a roman man made during roman republic when senators wanted to be shown as wise and exaggeratingly realistic. during this time it was not uncommon for men to be portrayed as sunken in eyes with folds of skin and serious stares to convey that they were wise, knowledgable

the primaporta augustus was made during the roman empire when emperors wanted to be portrayed as hero like and strong. THey were not interested in being portrayed realistically and most of the time statues heads were made sepperately and placed on statue bodies that were ideal at the time. in the augustus statue, his head resembles him in some sense but the body is shield and superhero like, his stance authoritative, his clothing showing he is also a common man
  4. compare and contrast kritios boy and kroisos?
Kritios boy was made during the classical greek period while kroisos was made during the archaic period.

kroisos has the eghyptian stance, but the body is seen in a more naturalistic way with better bodypart rations and proportions. his face is fuller and is hair is not stiff but falls naturaly over his back. rounded hips and the v shaped rigis of pelvic bone appear.

kritios boy: introduced to contrappasto.head turned slightly and tilts, breakign the unwritten rule of frontality.
  5. compare and contrast temple of aphaia and temple of hera

Both have an even number (6) of columns on the short ends, two columns in antis, and two rows of coumns in two stories inside cella.

hera temple more lavishly decorated with statued in both pediments
