  3. Commited step of glycolysis
    • Fructose 6 phosphate -> fructose 1,6 bisphosphate by phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK1)
    • PFK 1 is inactivated in FED state, preventing glycolysis and favoring glycogenesis

    • Glucose -> Glucose 6-phosphate

    Reversible isomerization occurs
  11. Step 8
    Reversible removal of an OH produces PEP,
  12. Step 9 (produces 2 ATP/glucose)
    • PEP -> pyruvate
    • Enzyme: pyruvate kinase
  13. Anaerobic glycolysis
    • Produces lactate
    • Burns 2 NADH gained previously
