    • Reovirus - segmented (11) RNA virus
    • Double capsid - VP4, VP7
    • Cooler months, kids 1-24 months
    • Localizes in duodenum, jejunum -> destruction of villous epithelium
    • life threatening in malnourished kid
    • Symptoms: abrupt onset of vomiting, diarrhea
    • Duration: 5-8 days
    • Infectious: 2-12 days
    • Dx: Virus in stool, RIA ELISA, PCR
    • Tx: electrolytes, highly infectious
    • Prevention: live oral vaccine
  2. Norwalk
    • Calicivirus - (+) RNA virus
    • Naked
    • Incubation: 1-2 days
    • Symptoms: abrupt onset, vomiting, diarrhea
    • Duration: 1-2 days
    • Older children and adults
    • Dx: not usuall done
  3. Astro, Adenoviruses
    • Astro: 1-2 days, kids, elderly nursing homes
    • Adeno: 8-10 days, 40 and 41, young kids
