What is mass/volume; mass per unit of volume?
What is specific gravity?
ratio of density of the substance to the density of the water at 4c
If water has a specific gravity of 1 and you put something with a >1 and <1 density, which will float and which will sink?
greater density will sink, lower density will float
What is pressure?
fluid exerts equal pressure in all directions
pressure is directly proportional to density or specific gravity of a substance
also directly proportional to the depth of the thing in the substance
What is Pascals principle?
pressure applied to a confined fluid increased pressure throughout the liquid by the same amount
What is buoyancy?
the force a fluid exerts up
*arm floating on the water in a pool
What is the principle that states buoyancy force on a body emersed in a fluid is wqual to the weight of a fluid displaced by that object?
*getting in a out of a tub of water
What is the principle that states where the velocity of fluid is high, pressure is low (and visa versa)?
