  1. Correlates for vowels: low F1
    • higher vowel -F1 determined by back cavity size
    • bigger the cavity, the lower the sound
  2. Correlates for vowels: higher F2
    • more front vowel-F2 determined by front cavity size
    • short oral cavity equals high f2
