    an abnormal condition, pt must stand to nreathe deeply or comfortably.
  19. PLEURAL FRICTION RUB
    • -low-pitched, grating or creaking lung sound
    • -occur when inflammed pleural surfaces rub together during respiration.
  20. PNEUMOTHORAX
    collection of air or gas in pleural spaces causing lung to collapse.
  21. SIBILANT WHEEZES
    • -Musical, high-pitched, squeaking or whistling
    • -caused by rapid movmnt of air.
  22. SONOROUS WHEEZES
    low-pitched, loud, coarse, snoring sound
  23. STERTOROUS
    resp effort, strenuous, struggling, provoke snoring
  24. TACHYPNEA
    ab rapid rate of breathing
  25. THORACENTESIS
    • ~inserting a needle like instrument into the pleural space & removing the fluid.

  26. VIRULENT
    capable of producing disease
