  1. External Oblique
    • Proximal Attachment: External surfaces of 5th to 12th ribs
    • Distal Attachment: Linea alba, pubic tubercle, and anterior half of iliac crest
    • Innervation: Thoracoabdominal nerves (T7-T11), Subcostal nerve (T12), lioinguinal nerve (L1), iliohypogastric nerve (L1).
    • Main Actions: Compresses and supports abdominal viscera; flexes and rotates trunk
  2. Internal Oblique
    • Proximal Attachment: Thoracolumbar fascia, anterior two thirds or iliac crest, and lateral half of inguinal ligament
    • Distal Attachment: Inferior borders of 10th to 12th ribs, linea alba, and pubis via conjoint tendon
    • Innervation: Thoracoabdominal nerves (T7-T11), Subcostal nerve (T12), lioinguinal nerve (L1), iliohypogastric nerve (L1).
    • Main Actions: Compresses and supports abdominal viscera; flexes and rotates trunk
  3. Transverse Abdominis
    • Proximal Attachment: Internal surfaces of 7-12 costal cartilages
    • Distal Attachment: Linea alba with aponeurosis of internal oblique, pubic crest, and pecten pubis via conjoint tendon.
    • Innervation: Thoracoabdominal nerves (T7-T11), Subcostal nerve (T12), lioinguinal nerve (L1), iliohypogastric nerve (L1).
    • Main Actions: Compresses and supports abdominal viscera
  4. Rectuc Abdominis
    • Proximal Attachment: Pubic symphysis and pubic crest
    • Distal Attachment: Xiphoid process and cotal cartilages 5-7
    • Innervation: Thoracoabdominal nerves (T7-T11), Subcostal nerve (T12), lioinguinal nerve (L1), iliohypogastric nerve (L1).
    • Main Actions: Compresses abdominal viscera and flexes trunk, stabilises trunk
  5. Anterior Scalene Muscle
    • Proximal Attacment: Anterior tubercles of tranverse processes C4-C6
    • Distal Attachment: First rib
    • Innervation: VR C5-C7
    • Main Actions: Flexes neck laterally; some flexion; elevates first rib
  6. Middle Scalene Muscle
    • Proximal Attachment: Posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C2-C7
    • Distal Attachment: First rib
    • Innervation: VR C3-C8
    • Main Actions: Flexes neck laterally; elevates first rib
  7. Posterior Scalene Muscle
    • Proximal Attachment: Posterior tubercles of tranverse processes of C5-C7
    • Distal Attachment: Second rib
    • Innervation: VR C6-C8
    • Main Actions: elevates second rib
  8. Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
    • Proximal Attachment: Sternal head: manubrium. Clavicular head: medial third of clavicle
    • Distal attachment: Mastoid process and lateral half of superior nuchal line
    • Innervation: Spinal root of cranial nerve CN XI and C2-C3
    • Main Actions: Ipsilaterally tilts head to one side; bilaterally flexes neck
