  1. What does DNA consist of?
pentose sugar, phosphate, nitrogen bases (purines, pyrimidines)
  2. what are purines?
    adenosine and guanine (double ring)
  3. what are primidines?
    cytosine and thymine (single ring)
  4. define nucleotides
sugar, base (nitrogen), and a phosphate
  5. define nucleosides
    sugar and base (nitrogen)
  6. define antiparallel
THE TWO SIDES OF dna RUN OPPOSITE TO EACH OTHER (UPSIDEDOWN)
  7. When and where does DNA replication occur?
during mitosis in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell
  8. what does helicase do?
unwinds the DNA by breaking the hydrogen bonds.
  9. what does primase do?
puts on the primer strand (RNA)
  10. what is DNA polymerase III?
adds nucleotides in (one by one in the leading strand and in sections in the lagging strand)
  11. what are okazaki fragments?
    sections of nucleotides
  12. what does DNA ligase do?
    joins okazaki fragments
