2 DIFFERENT KINDS OF WAVES:
ANALOG - Grooves that are read (vibration)
DIGITAL REPRODUCTION - 000's and 111's (numbers being read)
HERTZ-
A unit of measurement used to identify the frequency of a sound.
DECIBEL -
A measurement of sound intensity (amplitude or loudness of a sound)
DYNAMIC RANGE -
The difference, measured in decibels, between the quietest and loudest portion of a segment of sound.
ACOUSTICS -
The effect of a sound as produced in an enclosed space. (How the space responds to the sound according to how the place is built)
REINFORCEMENT-
The electronic amplification of actors or musical instruments on stage. (Mics and speakers)
FOLDBACK SYSTEM -
A separate set of amplifiers and speakersplaced to direct their sound to the actors/singers so they can hear the sound themselves. (also known as monitors)

MOTIVATED SOUND -

UNMOTIVATED SOUND -
Has no apparent source (a pianobeing played somewhere off stage; music being played with no apparent source)
OPTICAL REPRODUCTION
- A CD or DVD burner. It is called“optical” because it’s a laser that it burning it (light).
EFFECTS -
Music or sounds that are prerecorded and played backduring the scene.
