  1. What conditions give you lit amber and lit red SRV indicating lights?
    Lit amber light: 30# tailpipe pressure. This means the valve is actually open.

    Lit red light: Electrical open signal. This means the valve did not lift at its safety setpoint. It received an electrical open signal.
  2. If an SRV was opened by Lo-Lo Set, then remained stuck open, what light indications would you see?
    You would see only an amber light lit, indicating the valve is stuck mechanically open. Initially, the red and amber lights were lit until the Lo-Lo set signal went away. However, the valve should also have closed.
  3. If HPCI is in pressure control, what effect does throttling the HPCI test return flow valve (CV-3503) closed have on cooldown rate?
    Closing CV-3503 will force the HPCI to work harder to maintain flow in auto. This will draw more steam and raise cooldown rate.

    A - ON
    B - AUTO
    What will be the final condition on loss of power to the A unit?
    A will lose power, B will autostart.

    • MO-2399 (RWCU Return Isolation)

    • MO-2405 (Dump to WCT or WST)
  9. What is the purpose of the Core Spray Sparger DPIS? What does a degrading trend indicate?
    • Indicates a break in the Core Spray piping.
    • A degrading trend indicates the break is internal to the RPV but external to the shroud. This would cause that division of Core Spray to be Inoperable.
  10. Regarding the 15/16/17 Air compressors and air system, what happens on a complete failure of the ES 8 Sequencer? On failure of one pressure transmitter?
    On a loss of ES 8, the compressors revert to automatic local control based on their switch positions of Lead, Stby, and Lag.

    With a failure of one pressure transmitter, ES 8 will continue to function using the other transmitter.
  11. What is the result of opening the following valves simultaneously?
    AO-2378 (Torus Purge INBD Isol)
    AO-2381 (Drywell Purge INBD Isol)
    With both valves open, a suppression pool bypass path exists which makes the Torus Inoperable. This can adversely affect the containment pressure suppression capability.
  12. If the Main Transformer control panel showed the "Emergency Source Accepted" light lit, and NO OTHERS, what actions should be taken, if any?
    That light condition indicates the normal power source is lost, the alternate source is available, but the ATS failed to connect to the alternate source.

    The operator should take the Transfer Control switch to "Transfer Test" per the B-manual and/or the ARP.

    74F or greater

    • Greater than 12#.
    • Precludes "chugging" where the cyclic condensation of steam at the downcomer openings may induce cyclic stresses resulting in the failure of a downcomer.
  15. What will the Recirc pumps run back to, if at all, given a trip of a RFP with the following initial power levels?
    • 80% = 60% speed = runback to 50%
    • 50% = 35% speed = no runback
    • 40% = 20% speed = no runback

    A runback to 30% speed may occur if feed flow is <20%. A manual runback to 20% can be performed.
  16. What are the power supplies to the SWPs?
    • 11 SWP = LC-107
    • 12 SWP = LC-104
    • 13 SWP = LC-102
  17. Given A RHR is in SDC, and B RHR is in Torus Cooling - how does a Group II isolation signal affect these systems?
    SDC would be isolated by MO-2029 and MO-2030, and MO-2013 or MO-2014 going closed. The A RHR pumps would be tripped.

    The Torus cooling would be unaffected.
  18. What is the immediate operator action for lockup of a FRV?
    Control level using any unlocked FRV in Manual.
  19. What are the RPS power supplies for the following:
    2 of 4 Voters?
    RBMs and APRMs receive auctioneered power from both RPS systems through LVPS and auctioneering circuits.

    • 2 of 4 Voters 1 and 3 are from RPS A.
    • 2 of 4 Voters 2 and 4 are from RPS B.
  20. How is Post Accident Monitoring equipment generally identified in the Control Room?
    PAM instrumentation is identified by a star on the name plate.
  21. Following a SCRAM, C.4-A actions have been completed and the SCRAM was reset. If the MSIVs are open, but the bypass valves failed closed, can you control pressure 900-1056# using Lo-Lo Set? Why or why not?
    No. With the bypass valves closed, you need Lo-Lo Set. However, Lo-Lo Set needs a SCRAM signal. With the SCRAM reset, Lo-Lo Set is unavailable.
  22. What is the acceptable range for bus 15/16 voltages?
    4100 KV to 4400 KV
