  1. Fiction
    The class of literature made up of works whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact.
  2. Allegory
    A form of extended metaphor in which all of the elements of the story have meanings that lie outside the narrative itself.
  3. Character Sketch
    A short portrayal of a character.
  4. Satire
    A form of humor where the writer or speaker tries to make the reader or listener have a negative opinion about something by laughing at it or making it seem ridiculous.
  5. Short Story
    A fictional prose narrative that is shorter and less complex than other pieces. It is usually under 10,000 words.
  6. Tall Tales
    Stories that feature larger-than-life characters who are on a mission. They contain humor, exaggerated details, and everyday speech.
