    Sympathy mimetic that is selective for beta 2 adrenergic receptors but has minor beta 1 effects
  3. Mechanism of Action
    Bronchodilation
  4. Onset of Action
    • Onset- 5-15min
    • Peak- 1-1.5hrs
    • Duration- 3-6hrs
    • Half-life- <3hrs
  5. Indications
    Reversible bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis emphysema and bronchial asthma
  6. Contraindications
    Known hypersensitivity to the drug, symptomatic tachycardia
  7. Precautions/Side effects
    B/P, pulse, ECG should be monitored. Pt with known heart disease. Palpitations, tremors, hypertension, arrhythmias, chest pain, vomiting, nausea, anxiety/nervousness, headache, dizziness, sweating
  8. Adult dose
    • Nebulizer 2.5mg/2.5ml NS with O2 at 6-10 L/min
    • 2 sprays w/ metered dose inhaler (90mg each)
  9. Pedi dose
    under a year 0.15mg/kg in 2.5ml of NS
  10. Max dose adult
    2 doses
  11. Max dose pedi
    2 doses
  12. Drips
    N/A
  13. Route of Administration
    Inhalation
