  1. Warfarin
    Uses: Deep vein thrombosis, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, heart valve replacement, rhumatic or ischemic heart Dz.

    ADE: Bleeding, GI upset, necrosis, eye heme.

    Admin: PO wiht long T1/2 b/c of scrubbing protein

    • D:D: NSAIDs, asprin, plavix, Abx, heparin, thrombolytic agents increase risk of bleeding.
    • -reduced effects by rifampin which induces cyto P450
    • -effects reversed by vitamin K
  2. Asprin
    NSAIDs
    Uses: dec. risk for AMI, stroke & TIAs

    ADE: GI ulcer, bleeding, blurred vision

    Admin: Liver metabolism

    D:D: inc. bleeding risk, inc. GI effects
  3. Clopidogrel (Plavix)
    Uses: dec. thrombotic events after a recent AMI or stroke

    ADE: GI ulcer, bleeding, Neutropenia, rare thrombotic TCP purpura with Triclopidine, Conjunctivitis, cataracts.

    Admin: PO and is metabolized into active drug

    D:D: Inc. risk for bleeding when taken with other anti-thrombotics
