How far does the Tibial Plateu slope back?
For the TIB/FIB projection for both AP and LAT, what should you try to do when taking the x-ray?
Try to include both end of the joints for both projections.
How far above the joint is the patella located?
Patella is located 1/2 inch above joint.
Which one of the condyles extends lower than the other?
The medial condyle extends lower than the lateral.
What are the ligaments found in the knee?
- Posterior and Anterior cruciate
- Fibular Colatteral
- Tibial Collateral.
- Lateral and Medial meniscus
- Bursa and articular capsule
For the projection of the knee, what do you do to the leg to make sure you get a true AP?
Rotate the leg till the condylar lines are parallel to IR
Where is the CR for knee projections?
1/2 inch below the apex of patella
For knee projection, do you angle the tube?
It depends. But you angle the tube 5 - 7 degrees cephalic if needed.
When would you angle the tube for a knee x-ray?
If the patient have a big butt, angle the tube 5-7 degrees. If not, don't angle.
For an oblique knee projection, how much do you rotate the leg and which way?
Rotate the leg 45 degrees medially.
What do you see in a medial oblique view of the knee?
Proximal tibioibular joints open and fibiula is superimposed.
For a lateral knee, how much do you flex the leg?
20-30 degrees flex.
For the camp convetry method for tunnel (prone) how much do you flex the leg?
Flex the leg 40-50 degrees.
For the AP axial tunnel, how much do you flex the leg? Where is the CR?
40 degree flexion, central ray 1/2 inch below apex of patella.
For the hughgston method for a sunrise (Prone), how muc do you flex the knee? Where is the CR?
Flex 40 degrees CR at mid patella
For the setgas sunrise (seated), how much do you flex the knee? Where is the CR?
Flex the leg 90 degrees, CR directed at femoropatellar joint space.
For a AP femur, how much do you rotate the foot in for the distal and proximal?
- Distal - rotate the leg 5 degrees.
- Proximal - rotate 15-20 degrees.
For a lateral view of the femur, how much do you flex the leg?
Flex the leg 90 degrees.
For an AP pelvis, where is thecentral ray?
2 Inches below ASIS line.
For AP Bilateral projection ( Bilateral Frog Legs ) how much do you abduct the femurs?
Where is the CR for an AP bilateral frog leg?
3 inches below level of ASIS
For an Outlet projection, where is the CR?
1-2 inches beolow the superior border of symphisis pubis or greater trochanters.
For an Outlet projection, what direction do you angle? How much do you angle for males? How much for females?
- You angle cephalad.
- - Males: 20-35
- - Females: 30-45
For an Inlet projection, where is the central ray and how muh do you angle?
CR is at the level of ASIS and you angle 40 degrees caudad.
For an AP hip, where is the CR? How do you find the CR? How much do you rotate the legs?
- CR is to mid femoral neck
- To find this, from ASIS go 2 inches medial and 4 inches distal.
- Rotate the legs 15-20 degrees.
For a Unilateral Frog Leg, where is the CR and how much do you abduct the affected leg?
CR is at femoral head abducting 40-45 degrees.
