    • Smooth muscle relaxant
    • Reduces cardiac workload
    • Dilates coronary arteries

    • Reduce myocardial O2 demand

    • Onset: 1-3 min
    • Peak: 5-10 min
    • Duration: 20-30 min
    • Half-life: 1-4 min
  5. Indications
    • Chest pain associated with MI
    • Angina
    • Acute CHF
    • Acute Pulmonary edema
  6. Contraindications
    • Hypotension
    • Children under 12
    • Recent male enhancement drug usage
  7. Precautions
    • Short shelf life
    • Protect from light
    • Monitor Vitals
    • May build tolerance
    • Severe hypotension w/ alcohol use
    • Orthostatic hypotension w/ beta blockers
  8. Side Effects
    • Tachycardia
    • Hypotension
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Dry mouth
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Weakness
    • Rash
  9. Adult Dose
    • Tablet: One 0.4mg every 3-5 min up to 3 tablets
    • Spray: One 0.4mg spray every 3-5 min up to 3 sprays
    • Paste: 0.5-1inch (use only if SL has proven to be working)
