  1. Erythrocytes
    (red blood cells) = carry oxygen to the body tissues
  2. Lymphocytes
    (white blood cells) = fight off pathogenic infections

  4. carbon monoxide good or bad?
    The binding of oxygen to hemoglobin is therefore reversible, i.e. it attaches loosely, however carbon monoxide binds tightly to the hemoglobin molecule and blocks oxygen from attaching hence its lethality.

    The erythrocytes are produced from stem cells in the bone marrow
  6. importance of lymphocytes
    The lymphocytes are a major component of the immune system as they fight off any and all invading pathogens.
  7. lymphocytes remembers
    Once an individual is exposed to that pathogen the lymphocytes will “remember” it and fight it off if the body is ever exposed to it again, this is the logic behind vaccination
  8. Blood type A positive
    is coded for the A antigen, and has this antigen, will react against B, can only take A
  9. Blood type A negative
    is coded for the A antigen, but doesnt have this antigen, will react against B, can only take A
  10. Blood type B positve
    is coded for the B antigen, and has this antigen, will react against A, can only take B
  11. Blood type B negitive
    is coded for the B antigen, but doesnt have this antigen, will react against A, can only take B
  12. Blood type AB positive
    is coded for both the A and B antigen, and has both, can take both A or B
  13. blood type AB negitive
    is coded for both the A and B antigen, but doesnt have either, can take either A or B
  14. blood type O
    can only take other O, isnt coded for any antigens
  15. what would happen if you take the wrong blood type
    your body will fight it off and try and kill all of the "bad" blood cells, this could kill the person who was given the wrong type
  16. Iron deficency anemia
    can be cause by poor diet or if there was alot of blood loss, this can cause the person to have a decrease in hemoglobin which helps with the blood cloting so can have problems when tring to stop bleeding.
  17. sickle cell anemia
    can cause the erthrocytes or red blood cells to be deformedand can bloock blood flow. can cause clots in blood vessels
  18. lekemia
    cances of the lymphocytes or white blood cells that can cause an increase in white blood cells which are the desease fighting cells but whats different about these cells is they are non functional
  19. SCID severe combined immunodeficiency disease
    a child is born with lymphocytes or white blood cells that lack a certain enzymes
