  1. What is length?
This is the distance between two places
  2. State the SI unit for length
    Centimetres (cm)

    Metres (m)
  3. What is area?
This is the space taken up by a shape
  4. State the SI unit for area
    • Centimetres squared cm2
    • Metres Squared m2
  5. What is volume?
This is the amount of space taken up by an object
  6. State the SI unit for volume
    • Cubic centimetre cm3
    • Cublic metre m3
  7. What is mass?
This is the amount of matter in an object
  8. State the SI unit for mass
    Grams (g)

    Kilograms (kg)
  9. What is temperature?
This is how hot or cold something is
  10. State the SI unit for temperature
    Degrees Celsius (0C)
  11. What is time?
This is the length it takes to do something
  12. State the SI unit for time
    Seconds (s)

    Minutes (min)

    Hours (hr)
  13. State a piece of equipment used to measure length
    • Metre stick
    • Measuring tape
    • Trundle wheel
    • Opisometer
    • Callipers
  14. State a piece of equipment used to measure volume
    Graduated cylinder
  15. State a piece of equipment used to measure mass
    Balance
  16. State a piece of equipment used to measure temperature
    Thermometer
  17. What is density?
This is how much mass is packed into a particular volume
  18. State the density of water
    1 g/cm3
  19. State the SI unit for density
    g/cm3
  20. If an object floats in water what does this mean?
The object is less dense than the liquid
  21. If an object sinks in water what does this mean?
The object is more dense than the liquid
  22. What is a random error?
This causes specific readings to be too high or too low

This is caused by taking a measurement the wrong way

To avoid random errors, an average of the data should be taken
  23. What is a systematic error?
This causes all the readings to be above or below the right value
  24. What is a zero error?
This is a type of systematic error

It happens when an instrument has not been set to zero
  25. What is a parallax error?
This is when a person takes a reading when looking at an angle
  26. State a piece of equipment used to measure time
    Stopwatch
