What are the 6 sections of the head?
- 1. Crown area (top of head)

What are the 3 general characteristics of a suitable hairstyle?

What are the characteristics of a round facial type?
Round hairline and chin line
Create illusion of length to face (make face look thinner)
Arranging hair on top of head and dressed over ears and cheeks will make face look longer
Don't want layers to end at cheeks as this will make face look longer
Middle part will make face longer
What are the characteristics of a square facial type?
Straight hairline and square jawline
Create illusion of length and offset the squareness of the features
Style should lift off forehead and come forward at sides and jaw to create the illusion of narrowness and softness in the face
Don't want hair to end at jawline as it will draw attention to the strong jawline
What are the characteristics of a pear shape (triangle) facial type?
Narrow forehead and wide jawline and chin line

Wide forehead and narrow chin line
Decrease width in forehead and increase width in the Lower part of the face

Use bangs with little or no volume

Appears childlike so use mature styles
