  1. Acetaminophen

  2. ASA (Salicylates)
    Prevention of TI & MI, Antipyretic, nonopioid analgesic, inhibits production of prostaglandins, reduce inflammation and fever, decrease platelet aggregation, prolonged bleeding, tinnitus, hearing loss, N/V, GI upset, occult bleeding, monitor hepatic, AST, ALT, and Alkaline, Hematocrit (check clotting time) after meals or with food, full glass of water, uprtight 15-30 min after, avoid alcohol risk GI bleeding
  3. Docusate Sodium
    Constipation, laxative, stool softner, promotes water in stool to soften fecal matter, throat irritation, cramps, rash, give with full glass of water, do not administer within 2 hrs of other laxatives, cause increased absorption, increase fluid intake, increase bulk in diet
  4. Fluticasone
    Allergic Rhinitis, anti-inflammatory, corticosteroid, local acting inflammatort and immune modifier, dizziness, headache, epistaxis, burning, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis, blow nose before, decongestant nasal spray 5-15 min before, burning
  5. Montelukast (Singulair)
    Allergic Rhinitis, Bronchodilator, allergy, leukotrine antagonist , antagonize effects of leukotrines, decrease inflammatory response, Suicidal thoughts, agitation, GI upset, cough, increase liver enzymes, assess lung sounds, Resp function prior, behavior, AST, ALT
  6. Nitroglycerin
    Prophylactic TX of MI, TIA, antiaginals, nitrates increase coronary blood flow by dilating coronary arteries and improving collateral flo to ischemic regions, produces vasoconstriction, dizziness, headache, hypotension, tachycardia, monitor BP before, after, may give false increased cholesterol level, held under tongue till dissolved, no smoking, drinking eating till dissolved, repeat q 5 min up to 2 additional doses if needed
  7. Omeprazole
    Gerd, Heartburn, anti-ulcer agent, proton pump inhibitor, binds to enzymes on gastric parietal cells in presences of acidic gastric pH preventing transporet of hydrogen ions in gastric lumen, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, N&V, bloody stools, emeisis or gastric aspirations, Monitor CBC w/diff may increase AST, ALT, Alk Phospatase, Bili, before meals swallow whole, black tarry stools
  8. Simvastatin
    Hyperlipidemia, Lipid lowering agent, HMG-CoA reducatse inhibitor, secondary prevention of cardiac events, lowers total LDL, triglycerides, inhibits an enzyme responsible for catalyzing synthesis of cholesterol, dizziness, headache, chest pain, peripheral edema, abdominal cramps, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, myalgia, watch dietary intake (Fat), labs cholesterol, triglyceride before after 4-6 weeks, 6 months, can increase alkaline phosphatase, bili levels, take in pm, avoid grape juice increase risk of toxicity
  9. Morphine Sulfate
    Pain, opioid analgesic, opioid analgesic, binds to opiate receptors in CNS, alters perception and response to painful stimuli while producing generalized CNS depression, confusion, sedative, hypotension, constipation, respiratory depression, dependancy, assess pain before and after, assess BP, Pulse, Resp before and periodically after, may increase amylase and lipase levels (Narcan toxicity antidote)
  10. IV Flush
    Maintain patency of IV site and Lock, Clean off port prior to flushing
