  1. Addiction
    A physical need for a substance that results in withdrawal signs and symptoms if the substance is withheld
  2. Anorexia nervosa
    An eating disorder characterized by an intense fear of gaining weight or becoming obese; people with this disorder cannot maintain a healthy body weight because they engage in activities such as extreme dieting, excessive exercising, or both

    Episodes when a person sees, feels, hears, or tastes something that does not really exist
  11. Mental illness
    A disorder that affects a person's mind, causing the person to act in unusual ways, experience emotional difficulties, or both
  12. Obsessive-compulsive disorder
    An anxiety disorder taht causes a person to suffer intensely from recurrent unwanted thoughts (obsessions) that are usually associated with rituals the person feels obligated to complete constantly (compulsions)
  13. Panic disorder
    A mental health disorder in which a person experiences episodes of sudden, overpowering fright (panic) and anxiety, usually accompanied by chest or abdominal pain, a rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, and/or dizziness
  14. Phobia
    An excessive, abnormal fear of an object or situation
  15. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
    An anxiety disorder that occurs after a person experiences an overwhelming traumatic event such as combat, natual disaster, serious injury, criminal assault, rape, or death of another person
  16. Psychiatrist
    A doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness
  17. Psychologist
    A health care professional who is trained to provide counseling services for people with mental ilness
  18. Schizophrenia
    A mental health disorder that affeccts how a person thinks, feels and acts; the person has difficulty determining what is real from what is imaginary
  19. Stress
    A physical or emotional factor that changes the body's normal balance or equilibrium
  20. Substance abuse disorders
    Disorders that involve the excessive or inappropriate use of drugs
  21. Suicide
    The acr of taking one's own life intentionally and voluntarily
  22. WIthdrawal
    An emtional and physical reaction that occurs when use of the addictive substance is discountinued
