    Papillary and Reticular
  6. Whats papillary?
The papillary dermis is the very top layer of the skin, which serves to protect the body from the external environment. It contains blood vessels, which supply the skin tissue with essential nutrients and oxygen, as well as regulating body temperature.
  7. Whats reticular ?
    • deepest layer
    • sweat and oil glands
    • peep pressure receptors
  8. Translucent cells , containing keratin
    Stratum Lucidium
  9. Strata containing all or mostly dead cells
    strata lucidum, strata corneum
  10. Dermis layer responsible for fingerprints
    Papillary
  11. Vascular region
    Dermis
  12. Epidermal region involved in rapid cell division; most inferior epidermal layer
    Stratum Basale
  13. Scale like cells full of keratin that constantly flake off
    Stratum Granulosum
  14. site of elastic and collagen fibers
    Reticular layer
  15. site of melanin formation
    stratum basale
  16. major skin area from which the derivatives (hair nails) arise.
    Epidermis as a whole
  17. epidermal layer containing the oldest cells
    Stratum Corneum
  18. when tanned becomes leather
    Dermis

    • Mucous
    • Serous
    • Cutaneous
    • Synovial
  20. Whats Mucous?
    • the lining of the tubes
    • -moistens and protects from enzymes
  21. whats serous?
    Lubricates
