-how does it send out hormones?
    • homeostasis: internal balance
    • secretion of hormones: works like a thermostat, feedback mechanism
    • directly into bloodstream
  3. Endocrine system consists of several glands:
hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pineal, pancreas,
  4. Exocrine glands: what are they and specifics
    • -secrete chemicals into ducts
    • -sweat glands, pancreas
  5. Hypothalamus
    • works with pituitary
    • secrete neurohormones (from neural tissue)
  6. Pituitary
    • hangs from hypothalamus
    • secretes 7 hormones, many are stimulating (tropic) which trigger other glands to release hormones
  7. parathyroid
    calcium and phosphorus
  8. thyroid
    regulate metabolism and blood calcium
  9. adrenals
secretes fight or flight hormones: adrenaline and noradrenaline
