  1. What is the definition of a ration or diet?
    A 24 hour allowance of feed or mixture of feed ingredients.
  2. What does Ration or Diet not imply?
    That the ration or diet is nutritionally adequate.
  3. Balanced ration or diet implies what?
    That it is Nutritionally Adequate to meet the animals nutrient requirements for a specific purpose.
  4. What is the definition of Feed or Feedstuffs?
    Any material included in a diet or ration because of its nutritional properties.
  5. What is the definition of a Concentrate?
    Any feed ingredient with low crude fiber content (< 20%) and contains relatively high energy, protein, mineral, vitamin or additive content.
  6. Define Roughage.
    Any feed ingredient with greater than 20% crude fiber content and contains relatively low levels of nutrient density and typically is low in dry mater digestibility.
  7. Within the rumen what is the primary carbohydrate source from a roughage based diet?
    Cellulose
  8. Within the rumen what is the primary carbohydrate source from a concentrate based diet?
    Starch or soluble sugars
