  6. Jive Rock
    • the leg action: during the two steps (QQ) used to commence most figures
    • Step 1: taken back, leg straightened but not locked as heel is lowered, knee of leg without weight is slightly flexed
    • Step 2: weight transferred onto the forward foot in place and the leg straightened but not locked
  7. Jive Chasses
    • A group of three steps
    • Can taken in any direction, with or without turn
    • Can be either LRL or RLF
    • Weight is felt mainly over the balls of the feet
    • Hips are kept free throughout the dance, and there is a slight bounce action used during chasses

    • Step 1: is taken in appropriate direction on ball of foot,
    • knee is compressed hips do not move
    • timing is Q, 3/4 beat

    • Step 2: is half closed to to stationary foot on the ball of the foot
    • both knees compressed, hips starting to move
    • timing is a, 1/4 beat
    • (note - the heel may be close to or even touch the floor on steps 1 and 2)

    • Step 3: is taken ball flat
    • knee straightens and hip completes the move
    • Timing is Q, 1 beat
    • when a substantial amount of turn is made on this step, footwork used will be ball, e.g American Spin (see charts)

    The amount of turn in the chasse depends on the figure being danced.
