The flashcards below were created by user Anonymous on FreezingBlue Flashcards. What would you like to do?

  1. define enzyme
is a biological catayst that speeds up reaction
  2. how do enzyme assist in a cell's metabolism
they allow you to do chemical reaction faster at temperatures that are conducive to light
  3. explain the neccessity of pigments in plants, give two explain of how they function. one explain of a pigment in photosynthesis and explain of a non-photosynthesis
pigments absorb certain wavelenghts of light energy. pigments help plants capture light energy so they can convert it to chemical energy. chlorophyll captures everything but green (red and the blue volient light). non-photosynthesis are flowers of color that attract pollinators
  4. Explain how enzyme action can be controlled by allosteric inhibition and feedback inhibition.

  5. Feedback inhibition:  a cellular change, caused by a  specific activity, shuts down the activity that brought it about.
Allosteric enzymes have regulatory sites where control substances can bind to alter enzyme activity; if this control substance is the end product in the enzyme's metabolic pathway, feedback inhibition occurs.
  6. the sight of a light independent reaction
    stroma
  7. gas that releases energy
    exergonic
  8. which law states that energy can be created or destroyed
    1st law
  9.  is the the minimum energy required to start a reaction.
    activitated energy
  10. removing of an electron
    oxzidation
  11. energy tends to disperes
    2nd law
  12. locational where a substrates turns into a product
    active site
