    Non-depolarizing Neuromuscular Blocking Agent
  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    • - Onset: 1-3 minuets
    • - Duration: 30-60 minuets
    • - Minimal effect on heart rate and blood pressure
    • - Causes chemical muscle paralysis for intubation
    • - Vecuronium competes with acetylcholine for cholinergic receptor sites on post-junctional neuromuscular membranes
    • - A sedative, such as Versed or Etomidate, must be given in conjustion with Vecuronium
  3. Indications
    To maintain muscular paralysis following successful Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI) Intubation
  4. Contraindications
    • - Hypersensitivity
    • - Inability to control the airway (non-intubated patient)
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • - ONLY use after successful intubation with use of Succinylcholine as initial paralytic
    • - Wheezing, aspiration, dysrhythmias, bradycardia, sinus arrest, hypertension, hypotension, increased intracranial pressure
  6. Dosage (Adult and Pedi)
    0.1 mg/kg to a max single dose of 10mg - mayr repeat in 30-40 mins as needed - watch for patient movement
  7. How Supplied
    10mg / 10mL vials
