  1. Elements?
Atoms of the of the same type that combine. ( Elements are pure substances).
  2. Molecules?
Group of atoms joined to act as a single unit.
  3. Compounds?
Formed from chemical combinations of 2 or more elements. ( Compounds are pure substances).
  4. Atoms?
    Smallest particle of an atom.
  5. Inside the atom?
The nucleus is the center of the atom. Inside the nucleus is the proton and the neutron, outside the nucleus is the electron. A proton has a positive electric charge, a neutron has no charge, an electron has a negative electric charge.
  6. Atomic number?
The number of protons in an atom.
  7. Mass number?
The number of protons plus the number of neutrons in an atom.
  8. Quarks?
Quarks make up protons, neutrons, and electrons.
  9. Gluons?
    Gluons hold quarks together.
  10. Isotope?
Atoms of the same element that differ in number of neutrons.
  11. Ions?
Ions don't have the same number of electrons as protons. If atoms loose electrons they become positive ions. If atoms gain electrons they become negative ions.
  12. Who was one of the first people to discover the atom?
    Democritus.
  13. Atomos?
    Atoms.
