provides health insurance for uninsured childre. Most children covered are from working class families w/ incomes too hight to to qualify for medicaid but too low to afford private health insurance. Partnership between the fed/ state government.
SCHIP (state children's health insurance Program
Provides food, nutrition counseling, an daccess to health services for low-income women, infants and children. Fed funded but distributed by the state. Pregnant/ postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 and who are considered to be a nutritional risk are elgible.
WIC women infants and children (WIC).
Federally funded, comprehensive preschool program for children who are at risk for academic problems with poverty and lack of sufficitient social stimulation. low income children 3-5 years are eligble for Head start programs.
