  1. Alleles
    The different form of gene
  2. Asexual reproduction
Has to do with the egg and sperm. Bacteria use binary fission for asexual reproduction
  3. Cloning
Cloning in biology is the process of producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals that occurs in nature when
  4. Codominance
A condition in which neither of two alleles of a gene dominant or recessive and both alleles are shown in th offspring.
  5. Dominant Alleles
An allele whose trait always shows up the organism when an allele is present.
  6. Fertilization
The joining of a sperm and egg.
  7. Four Types of Asexual Reproduction
    "Buddin, Binary Fission, Mitosis, Cloning"
  8. Gamete
    Parent
  9. Genes
Set of information that controls the trait.
  10. Genetically different
The advantage of conjuation in bacteria is the offspring are genetically different from the parent
  11. Genetically identical
Offspring from asexual reproduction are genetically identical to parent
  12. Genetics
    The scientific study of Heredity
  13. Genotype
"An organism's genetic make up, or allele combination."
  14. Heredity
The passing traits from parent to offspring
  15. Heterzygous
An organism that have 2 different alleles for a trait.
  16. Homozygous
An organism that have 2 identical alleles for a trait.
  17. Hybrid
An organism that has two different alleles for a trait.
  18. Meiosis
"Meiosis is the process of a cell division which result in the daughter cell being produced with only HALF the number of chromosome as the parent cell. The process by which the number of chromosomes are reduced by HALF to form sex cells. In Meiosis, the cell divides twice to make sex cell (chromosomes are reduced by HALF)."
  19. Meiosis vs Mitosis
Mitosis and Meiosis are both types of cell division. Meiosis is the process of a cell division which result in the daughter cell being produced with ONLY HALF the number of chromosome as the parent cell.
  20. Mitosis
Mitosis produces 2 daughter cells that are IDENTICAL to the parent cell
  21. Number of Chromosomes in Human.
    Human cell has 23 pair of chromosomes (23 x 2 = 46 Chromosomes).
  22. Phenotype
An organism physical apperance or visible traits.
  23. Probability
A number that describes how likely it is that an event will occur.
  24. Punnett square
A chart that shows all the possible combinations of Alleles that can result from a genetic cross.
  25. Purebred
The offspring of many generations that have the same traits.
  26. Recessive Alleles
An Allele that is masked/hidden when dominant allele is presented
  27. Sexual Reproduction
Is a type of reproduction that involves gametes.
  28. Trait
A characteristic that an organism can pass on to its offspring through its genes.
  29. Diploid
Describes a cell that has two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent.
