What are the six levels of Bloom's Taxonomy in regards to reading?
Describe the first three levels of Bloom's Taxonomy
Remembering - concerns with the level of literal information in the text
Understanding - understanding the literal and figurative information
Applying - the ability to apply what is read to a new or different situation
Describe the "Analyzing" level of Bloom's Taxonomy
The 4th level
The ability to analyze the parts of what is being written (grammar, etc.)
Describe the "Evaluating" level of Bloom's Taxonomy
the 5th level
the ability of putting information together in new, creative ways
Describe the "Creating" level of Bloom's Taxonomy
the 6th level
involves making value judgements and very often involves the question "why" or to "justify your answer"
What are convergent and divergent questions?
- convergent - only one answer is correct
- divergent - more than one answer is correct
What is Emergent Literacy?
consists of reading related knowledge and skills that children develop prior to formal instruction in reading (knowing that we read left to right, the connection between print and speech)
