    • yo
    • "I" in english is always capitalized, "yo" is not.  Both refer to the speaker.
  2. You (familiar)
    • "Tu" is the familiar form of "you".  It is used among friends and within the family, as long as the person you are speaking to is younger than you.
  3. You (formal/polite)
    • usted(es) -ud/uds
    • "usted" and the plural form "ustedes" are more formal (polite) than "tu".  they are used with person's we do not know very well, AND WILL ALWAYS BE USED WHEN SPEAKING TO THE PUBLIC.
    • Note that "usted" and "ustedes" can be abbreviated as "ud" and "uds"

    su (singular)/ sus (plural)

  8. we (masculine)
    • nosotros
    • "nosotros" becomes nosotras if the speakers are all females.  If the speakers are males and females, we use "nosotros"

    ellas
