  1. ABERRATION
    A deviation from the standard; not typical

    EX: Tommy threw the green ball 96 miles per hour according to the radar gun--I wondered if he could normally throw the ball that hard, or if that was an aberration.

    A means of approach or admittance (e.g. to an area or organization)

    EX: I have no clue why my ID badge didn't allow

    Agreement

    EX: The office is all in accord with your proposal.

    Wise proverb or saying (e.g. "Too soon old, too late smart")

    EX: Experience bears out the old adage "out of sight, out of mind."

    EX: He had been spying on his adversary for a long time now, preparing for war.

    One who speaks in favor of or on behalf of another

    EX: I decided to be an advocate on the community dedicated to saving whales.
  7. AFFLUENCE
    Wealth or abundance

    EX: She is an affluent widow who gives generously to many worthwhile charities.
  8. AGENDA
    List of items to accomplished or discussed

    EX: Becky what's on the agenda for the meeting this afternoon?
  9. ALACRITY
    Cheerful willingness or ready response

    EX: He accepted the new job with such alacrity that the manager was looking forward to his first work day.
  10. ALIAS
    An assumed name or pseudodym, used for purposes of deception, as a pen name or the like

    EX: I didn't want all of the fame or attention so I created an alias to use for my books.
  11. ALLUSION
    An indirect reference to something else, especially in literature; a hint

    EX: In the short story we read in class today the author made an allusion to the passage in the bible about Noah.
  12. AMITY
    Friendship

    EX: The amity between the two bordering nations put the populations at ease.
  13. ANARCHY
    Lawlessness, disorder; a lack of government control of effectiveness

    EX: A group of people without laws and consequences would result in total anarchy.
