The flashcards below were created by user padr3ko on FreezingBlue Flashcards. What would you like to do?

  1. Norepinephrine
SE: HA, palpitations, Nervousness, epigastric distress, angina, HTN, tissue necrosis w/ extravasation
    • Vasoconstrictor(inc BP and CO)
    • May see reflex bradycardia, do not leave patient alone, UO, give w/ dex, check BP, protect from light.
  2. Dopamine(Intropin)
SE: Inc intraocular pressure, ectopic beats, Nausea, inc HR, chest pain, dysrhymias
Low-dose dilates renal and coronary arteries, High doseĀ vasoconstrictor. HA = excess, check bp, pulses, UO, use infusion pump
  3. Epinephrine(adrenaline)
SE: nervousness, restlessness, dizziness, local necrosis of skin
Stimulates a and b adrenergic receptors, monitor bp, iv can be dangerous. 1:100 for inhalation and 1:1,000 for parenteral admin, hydrate
  4. Isoproterenol(isuprel)
SE: HA, palpitation, tachycardia, BP changes, Agina, bronchial asthma
stimulates beta 1 and beta 2 adrenergic receptors, used for heart block, ventricular arrhythmias, and bradycardia, bronchodilator(asthma and broncho spasm), don't give at night, check bp and pulse
  5. Phenylephrine
SE: palpataions, tachycardia,HTN, dysrhymia, angina, tissue necrosis with extravasation
    • Potent alpha 1 agonist
    • used to treat hypotension
  6. Dobutamine Hydrochloride
SE: HTN, PVC, asthmatic episodes, HA
Stimulators beta 1 receptors, incompatible with alkaline solutions(bicarb), use CVC or larger peripheral vein, don't infuse through line with other meds, check ECG, BP, IO, serum potassium
  7. Milrinone
    SE: dysrhythmia, thrombocytopenia, jaundice
Positive Inotropic agent, smooth muscle relaxant used to tx severe heart failure
  8. Sodium nitroprusside
    Nitropress
    SE: hypotension
    • Dilates cardiac veins and arteries
    • decreases preload and afterload
    • increase myocardial perfusion
  9. Diphenhydramine HCL(Benadryl)
SE: drowsiness, confusion, insomnia, HA, vertigo, photosensitivity
Blocks effects of histamine on bronchioles, GI tract and blodo vessels
