  1. Autonomic Nervous System
    • serves internal organs
    • involved in responses to stress
  2. Sympathetic Nervous System
    • mobilizes the body's resources in emergency, stressful, and emotional situations
    • reactions could include increased rate and strength of cardiac contraction, constriction of blood vesels, or increase in respiration
  3. Parasympathetic Nervous System

    aimed at changing the source of the stress
  12. Emotion-Focused Coping
    managing the emotions that accompany the perception of stress
