The flashcards below were created by user Loca22 on FreezingBlue Flashcards.

1. What is Biomechanics
Is the study of forces and their effects on living systems, whereas exercise and sport biomechanics is the study of forces and their effects on humans in exercise and sport.
2. What is Dynamics
Mechanics of objects in accelerated motion.

Subdivided: Kinematics / Kinetics
3. What is Kinematics
Deals with the description of motion
4. What is Kinetics
Deals with the forces that cause or tend to cause changes in motion.
5. What is exercise and sport biomechanics
The study of forces and their effects on humans  in exercise and sport.
6. What is inertia
The property of an object to resist changes in its motion. Heavier objects have ore inertia  but the measure of inertia is not weight. Mass is the measure of inertia, whereas weight is the measure of the force of gravity action on an object.
7. What is Kinesiology
The study of Human Movement; Study of Movement.
8. What is Mass
Is the measure of inertia (the property of an object to resist changes in its motion).
9. What is Mechanics
The analysis of forces and their effects; is the science concerned with the effects of forces action on objects; objects being human and the implements they may be manipulating in sports and exercise.
10. What is Rigid-body mechanics
Is best suited for describing and explaining the gross movements of humans and implements in sport and exercise, so the concepts of rigid-body mechanics will be important in our study of exercise and sport biomechanics.
11. What is statics
A subdivision of Rigid-body mechanics. The mechanics of objects at rest or moving at constant velocity.
12. What is weight
Is the measure of the force of gravity acting on an object.
