    Mechanism of Action
    • Binds to opiate receptors in the brain to block narcotics from binding to the receptors, blocking the narcotics effects.
    • Displaces narcotic molecules from opiate receptors.
    • Can reverse respiratory depression associated with narcotic overdose.

    • Narcotic overdoses including:

    Hypersensitivity to the medication

    Precautions
    • May cause withdrawel effects in Pts dependant on narcotics.
    • Short acting - should be augmented every 5 minutes.

    • Rarely any side effects:
    • hypotension
    • HTN
    • Ventricular arrhythmias
    • Nausea / Vomiting

    • <5 years old: 0.1 mg/kg
    • >5 years old: 1 - 2 mg
