         1. Revert to Standby Instruments

         1. Execute Emergency Engine Shutdown/Egress

    IN-FLIGHT

  8. GTS FIRE WARNING LIGHT
    • GROUND
    •      1. Execute Emergency Shutdown/Egress

    • IN-FLIGHT
    •      1. Engine Switch - OFF
  9. FIRE WARNING LIGHT
    • GROUND
    •      1. Execute Emergency Shutdown/Egress

    • TAKEOFF
    • If decision is made to stop:
    •      1. Abort

    • If fire is confirmed and unable to abort:
    •      2. Eject

    • IN-FLIGHT
    •      1. Throttle - Minimum for safe flight
    •      2. Secondary Indications - Check

    • If secondary indications exist of fire confirmed:
    •      3. Eject

    • If fire not confirmed and control effectiveness remains:
    •      4. Land as soon as possible
  10. CLEAR ENGINE PROCEDURE
    • 1. Throttle - OFF
    • 2. Engine Switches - ON
    • 3. Fuel Shutoff Handle - DOWN
    • 4. GTS - START
    • 5. Ignition Switch - ISOLATE

    When RPM below 20% and GTS advisory light illuminates:

    6. Engine Switch - START

    If GTS is no longer required:

    7. Engine Switch - OFF    (non-memory item)
  11. EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN/EGRESS
    • *1. Throttle - OFF
    • *2. Engine Switch - OFF
    • *3. Fuel Shutoff Handle - PULL
    • *4. Ejection Seats - SAFE
    • *5. Battery Switches - OFF
    • (6-13 non-memory items)
  12. ABNORMAL START
    1. Execute CLEAR ENGINE PROCEDURE
  13. TAILPIPE FIRE AFTER SHUTDOWN
    1. Execute CLEAR ENGINE PROCEDURE
  14. ENGINE FAILURE DURING CATAPULT LAUNCH
    • 1. Eject
    • 2. If unable to eject - DITCH STRAIGHT AHEAD
  15. ENGINE FAILURE IN FLIGHT
    If below 1,500' AGL and airspeed below 180 KIAS:

    1. Eject

    If above 1,500' AGL or airspeed greater than 180 KIAS:

    2. Execute Airstart
  16. UNASSISTED AIRSTART (IMMEDIATE/WINDMILL)
    • 1. Emergency Oxygen Green Ring - PULL
    • 2. Throttle - OFF

    Simultaneously perform steps 3 & 4:

    • 3. GTS Start Button - PRESS and HOLD
    • 4. Throttle - IDLE
  17. ASSISTED AIRSTART
    Below 15,000' MSL, 165 to 250 KIAS:

    • 1. Throttle - OFF
    • 2. GTS - START

    When RPM drops below 20% N2 and GTS advisory light ON:

    • 3. Engine Switch - START
    • 4. Throttle - IDLE
  18. EGT/RPM Warning Light or Compressor Stall
    • 1. Throttle - MINIMUM FOR SAFE FLIGHT
    • 2. Controls - NEUTRALIZE
    • 3. EGT/RPM - MONITOR

    If EGT is greater than 450 degrees Celsius for more than 6 seconds after throttle IDLE:

    4. Execute Airstart

    If EGT and RPM indications are normal:

    • 5. Throttle - MINIMUM FOR SAFE FLIGHT (non-memory)
    • 6. Land as soon as PRACTICAL
  19. ABORT
    • 1. Throttle - IDLE
    • 2. Speed Brakes - EXTEND
    • 3. Brakes - AS REQUIRED
    • 4. Hook - DOWN (1,000' prior to arresting gear, if required)
    • 5. Release brakes prior to crossing arresting gear
    • 6. Transmit intentions
  20. AIRCRAFT SETTLING OFF CATAPULT
    • 1. Throttle - CHECK FULL FORWARD
    • 2. Maintain 24 Units AOA

    If settle not stopped:

    3. Eject
  21. UNCOMMANDED ROLL/YAW
    • 1. FLAPS/SLATS Lever - RETURN TO PREVIOUS SETTING
    • 2. Controllability Check - PERFORM AS REQUIRED
    • 3. Land as soon as PRACTICAL
  22. DEPARTURE/SPIN PROCEDURE
    • 1. Controls - NEUTRALIZE/FORCIBLY CENTER RUDDER PEDALS
    • 2. Speed Brakes - RETRACT
    • 3. Throttle - IDLE
    • 4. Check altitude, AOA, Airspeed and Turn Needle

    If Spin Confirmed:

    INVERTED (AOA Pegged at 0 Units)

    • 5. Rudder Pedal - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
    • 6. Lateral Stick - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
    • 7. Longitudinal Stick - NEUTRALIZE

    UPRIGHT (AOA Above 28 Units)

    • 8. Rudder Pedal - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
    • 9. Lateral Stick - FULL WITH TURN NEEDLE
    • 10. Longitudinal Stick - NEUTRALIZE

    If recovery indicated or airspeed increasing through 160 KIAS:

    11. Lateral Stick - NEUTRALIZE

    When recovery indicated:

    12. Rudder Pedals - SMOOTHLY CENTER

    If out of control passing 10,000' AGL:

    13. EJECT
  23. BLOWN TIRE AT THE CARRIER
    1. Gear and Flaps - DO NOT REPOSITION
  24. BRAKE FAILURE
    If flyaway airspeed available:

    1. Go-around

    If flyaway airspeed not available or during taxi:

    • 2. Throttle - IDLE
    • 3. Brakes - RELEASE
    • 4. Anti-Skid Switch - OFF
    • 5. Attempt Braking

    If brakes still unavailable:

    • 6. Hook - DOWN (1,000' prior to arresting gear, if required)
    • 7. Parking Brake Handle - PULL, if required
    • (8-12 non-memory items)
  25. BRAKE FAILURE - AFLOAT
    • 1. Throttle - IDLE
    • 2. Parking Brake Handle - PULL
    • 3. Hook - DOWN
    • 4. Transmit
  26. LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL
    1. Rudder - AS REQUIRED TO COUNTER SWERVE

    If flyaway airspeed available:

    2. Go-around

    If flyaway airspeed not available:

    3. Abort

    If blown tire suspected:

    4. Brakes - RELEASE

    5. Anti-Skid switch - OFF PRIOR TO BRAKING

    If airborne:

    • 6. Gear and Flaps - DO NOT REPOSITION
    • (7-8 non-memory items)
  27. TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE
    1. Emergency Oxygen Green Ring - PULL
  28. ELECTRICAL FIRE
    1. GEN Switch - OFF
  29. ELIMINATION OF SMOKE OR FUMES FROM COCKPIT
    • 1. Altitude - DESCENT BELOW 18,000' (if practical)
    • 2. AIR FLOW Knob - OFF

    If unable to clear smoke or unable to see:

    • 3. Airspeed - REDUCE
    • 4. Warn other cockpit occupant / secure loose items
    • 5. Seat - LOWER
    • 6. MDC firing handle - PULL
    • 7. Land as soon as POSSIBLE
  30. HYPOXIA/OBOGS CONTAMINATION
    • 1. Emergency Oxygen Green Ring - PULL
    • 2. OBOGS Flow Selector - OFF
    • 3. Altitude - DESCEND TO LESS THAN 10,000' CABIN ALTITUDE OR MINIMUM SAFE ALTITUDE
    • 4. OBOGS/ANTI-G switch - OFF (non-memory)
    • 5. Land as soon as PRACTICAL
