  1. What condition involves the failure of the testes to descend into the scrotum? Pg. 456
    cryptorchidism.
  2. Why is the sperm located outside of the male's body within the scrotum rather than somewhere within the body? Pg. 456
Sperm cannot live at body temperature; instead, they prefer the cooler temperature of the scrotum. To avoid infertility, a surgeon will take care of the patient's cryptorchidism by pulling the undescended testicles into the scrotum. When the surrounding environment gets cold, the scrotum/penis shrink because the sperm also can't live in amazingly cold weather.
  3. In addition to producing sperm, what else does the testes produce? Pg. 456
The most important androgen (male hormones) is testosterone hence the testes also produce that in addition to sperm.
