  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    Slows conduction time through the A-V node and interrupt the reentry pathways of the A-V node. Half life of 10 seconds and does not cause a decrease in blood pressure.

    • PSVT (Refractory to vagal maneuvers)
    • PSVT associated with WPW
  4. Contraindications
    • Wide Complex Tachycardia
    • Second or third degree A-V Block
    • Hypersensitivity
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • Palpitations
    • Hypotension
    • Chest Discomfort
    • Headache/Dizziness
    • Respiratory Distress
  6. Dosage (Adult)
    Initial Adult Dose: 6mg given as a rapid IVP, in closet port to the patient, with a 10 mL flush being pushed at the same time at the next port away from the patient

    Repeat Adult Dose: 12mg given as a rapid IVP, in closet port to the patient, with a 10 mL flush being pushed at the same time at the next port away from the patient

    May repeat the 12mg dose one more time to a max of 30mg
