  1. What is the Parkland Formula?
    • 4ml x pt wt in Kg x %burn = 24 hr total
    • half to be delivered in the first 8 hrs and the 2nd half in the remaining 16hrs.
  2. What is an escharotomy?
    A superficial incision made to the burned skin in order to allow expansion of a given area. To the chest allows for breathing, on the arms or legs prevents of the swelling pushing inward and clamping off the vessels and nerves.
  3. Why do we not use Succinylcholine in burn patients?
    One of the side effects of succ's is hyperkalemia, which is also raised in burn pts due to cell damage and potassium is released.
