  1. What is a static vlan?
    A static vlan is when an administrator assigns ports statically to vlan.
  2. What is a dynamic vlan and what is VMPS?
    A dynamic Vlan is when a switch uses a VMPS (Vlan Membership Policy Server) to assign ports to vlans based on there mac address. some catilist switches can be a VMPS.
  3. What are the 5 STP port states?
    • Blocking
    • Listing
    • Learning¬†
    • Forwarding¬†
    • Disabled
  4. With STP what is the Forward delay?
    • It is the time it takes for the switch to go from the listing to learning state, or from learning to forwarding.
    • Default is 15 sec.
  5. What is 802.1w standard for?
    It is the standard for RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol).
  6. What are the RSTP port states?
    • Discarding

    • Forwarding
