What are the two types of cells found in nervous tissue?
Neurons and Neuroglia
How does the body respond to injury?
-Mast cells release chemicals (mast cell activation) which stimulate inflammation.
-Then fibroblasts move into area laying down collagen fibers (scar tissue).
Where is stratified squamous found?
Surface of skin and line the mouth, throat, esophagus, rectum, anus and vagina.
Where is simple cuboidal found?
Found lining exocrine glands and ducts (passageways that carry secretions).
Where is transitional epithelium found?
Lines the urinary bladder, the ureters, and the urine-collecting chambers withing the kidneys.
Where is simple columnar epithelium found?
Found lining the stomach, intestine, gallbladder, uterine tubes, and ducts within the kidneys.
Where is pseudostratified columnar epithelium found?
Found: lining the nasal cavities, the trachea, and larger airways of the lung. Also found along portions of the male reproductive tract.
Where is stratified columnar epithelium found?
Found: lining large ducts such as those of the salivary glands or pancreas.
