What are the four sex hormones that control the female menstrual cycle?
FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), LH (luteinising hormone), Progesterone and Oestrogen
Where is FSH and LH released from?
The pituitary gland in the brain
What do artificial sex hormones do?
They prevent ovulation by making the body think that it is pregnant which therefore inhibits the FSH release. The eggs in the ovary are therefore not stimulated to develop
If fertilisation does not occur what happens to the hormone levels?
