Causes of blepharitis
- -staph
- -seborrhoeic (oily skin)

Tx of anterior blepharitis
- -warm compresses 15 mins qd/tea bags
- -artificial tears
- -polysporin ophth. ung (with warm compresses)
If severe (corneal involvement)... use topical fluoromethalone (FML) steroid

systemic causes of posterior blepharitis
- -rosacea
- Sign: obstructed meibomian orifices

Mx of posterior blepharitis
- -warm compresses
- -artificial tears
- -oral tetracycline or doxycycline or erythromycin is tetracyclines contraindicated (6-12 weeks)

Mx of chalazion
- -May clear without Tx (wait and see) -hot compresses and massage
- -triamcinolone (steroid injection)
- -tetracycline (system Ab for rosacea)

Mx of internal hordeolum
- -warm compresses
- -system Ab rarely needed

- -epilation may speed resolution

- -tarsorrhaphy (sewn shut) or inferior lid shortening Sx for severe cases
