  1. Ideal traffic offense stop:
    • Tell them the reason for the stop
    • Get license under 175
    • Get them to state name and address

    • If negative but their manner of driving was caused by alcohol or they are at place of abode ect we can do a sobriety assessment, if they fail or refuse we arrest for blood sample
    • If positive:
    • Introduce to custody manager
    • Introduce to BAC operator
    • 15 minute observation period
    • Caution
    • Drinking questions, When was your first drink? When was your last? ect ect.
    • Breath analysis
    • BAS certificate
    • FCAN explain it to them
    • If anything over low range suspend license.
  3. Ideal crash situation
    • Attend, assess advise
    • Atted to welfare of injured
    • Indentify drivers and witnesses
    • Breath test drivers as soon as
    • possible. (If they have gone to hospital we can get a breath test under sch 3 cl 11 to test for alcohol, if we have reasonable suspicion for drugs we can test for that too)
    • Preliminary point of impact
    • Ensure the free flow of traffic.
    • Investigate and record details. (287 says drivers must provide details and a version to police)
    • Adjudicate on who is at fault and
    • deal with such under relevant legislation.
