  1. DC current
DC current is a continuous unidirectional flow of charged particles. it is commonly used for iontophoresis and for simulating contractions in denervated muscles.
  2. AC current
    • A continuous bidirectional flow of charged particles. AC can be used for pain control in for muscle contraction. Example interferential and premodulated.
    •  Also used for muscle contraction. Example: Russian protocol.
  3. PC Current
PC is an interrupted flow of charged particles where the current flows in a series of pulses separated by periods where no current flows. It is used in many applications including pain control tissue healing muscle contraction. It is the waveform most often used for electrical stimulation.
