You receive a dispatch call to a domestic dispute happening in a couple's home. Neighbours report loud screaming, shooting, and sound of objects breaking and smashing. You arrive at the scene and the couple are fighting intensively in the living room. They do not notice your entrance at first, as you witness the fighting, you see both parties are becoming increasingly agitated. The man picks up a drink from the coffee table in front of him, says, "fuck you bitch! i don't fucking care anymore." and drops the glass onto the table shattering it. He turns to look at you and asks, "who the fuck are you?! Look, this is our problem, we do not need you here, just get the fuck out." The women backs him up and agrees that this is a personal matter and that you should leave.
Well, Sir, Madam. I am constable leung from the toronto police services.
I am here because I received a call about the two of you fighting and I am here in response to that call.
I see that both you are in a very difficult situation right now... as a husband myself, i understand the frustration and anger that can be built up when your partner disagrees with you.
(ask to do)
BUT, I will need both of you to take a few breaths and calm down first. There is no use screaming and shouting over a problem.
Let's solve it together, and I am here to help. So, why don't we sit down and let's calmly talk this out. I guess I'll begin with, "Please tell me what happened?"
