What is abnormal behavior?
Think of a bell shaped curve on a graph. On the top of the bell is considered to be average. People that fall far left from average or far right are considered abnormal. Abnormal psychology focuses on observable behaviors of a person.

Abnormal Psychology that focuses on observable behaviors. The focus is on reinforcing positive behaviors. This only targets the behavior itself and not the underlying causes.
What is the Medical Approach in abnormal behavior? What does it focus on? What can it include?
Focuses on the biological causes on mental illness. This perspective emphasizes the underlying cause of disorders, which might include genetic inheritance, related physical disorders.
What is the cognitive approach in abnormal behavior? What does it focus on?
Help individuals change their thoughts and reactions.
